Coolest jewel light I've ever seen

Post by randalp3000 »

This came in the shop this mourning. it's pretty boogered and has a low hum and I think the replacement speaker is blown. Supposed to have been serviced recently but looks like a bunch of monkey business.

I was gonna pass until I saw the jewel light. It starts as a pin but if you twist it a shutter opens. Frickin sweet, so I low balled him and he bit.

VERY cool. Flot-a-Tone. That name came up a lot when I was researching Sano.

What is it's tube compliment?

5u4, 2 6l6, and I think 6sl7 and 6sj7. I had it put down in the basement already. The OP trans looks like a spray painted tweed super replacement.

Too much monkey business to deal with at the moment.

one on fleebay right now

I recently bought some of those dial panels from a surplus place for a two knob build. Very cool amp.

That's a cool looking amp!

I looked at the one on eBay. Too rich for my blood. You didn't happen to look at the other items that person has for sale, did you? Between the acoustic guitar and the bike helmet? There's a story there, I just know it!

Just had one of those pilots show up on an early 60's Gregory 2x12. WWII vintage dashboard pilot for planes, tanks, subs. Probably gazillions of 'em in surplus postwar for a penny apiece. Now not so much. The three triangles looks very "early Atomic Age" similar to the symbol for "Bomb Shelter." Duck and cover!

That was ME staring down the magic eye, eye to eye, in parents' 1948 duMont TV. Also looking thru the back grille at those dusty glowing things. Ma used to swat me. Hell at age 3 I knew there wasn't much worth watching on the boob tube. It also picked up FM radio - that was much better. Never got the fuse to blow. But one night it did catch fire. Pee-yoo!

Miles may have been doing much the same. Maybe more of us TAGsters too.

Funny...Tom you will be interested to hear that a guy down the street from both of us has been using that radiation symbol for quite some time.
