Thinking it through, I guess it won't work to make the bottles of graphene, since graphene is highly conductive and glass is non-conductive.

Don't you remember the original 6L6? Black metal envelope. There were actually lots of tubes made this way.

off topic, but I have quite a few metal tube 6L6s I picked up in an estate sale. I haven't rewired any amps to try them out. Has anyone here tried them?
