Solid State Project Lap Counter

Post by mcrracer »

Digital lap counter: My eyesight is not good enough yet to do this kind of work. This is part of a much larger project and I just can't build this part of it. Would anyone be interested in building this for me? I will pay. I am setting up a slot car track at our local park for the kids to play on and race model cars. I want to give them something to do to take them off of the streets this Summer here in Chicago. This unit will be a lap counter for a 4 lane track. I could use a 8 lane model as well. Each car is in a separate lane and when it goes thru a "dead strip" of track it closes a circuit (acts as a momentary switch) and trips the lap counter. The display unit needs to have a 3 or 4 digit LED or LCD display approximately 1" tall numbers in some sort of chassis box. Metal or plastic.. An external AC power supply should power the unit. Each lane needs a reset button and also a reset all button. PM me if you are interested and need more info.
Thanks. PM me for a further explanation. Thanks.

Do not limit yourself to what others think is reasonable or possible.

Thanks again CP. That unit is listed as operating on 220V. I contacted them to see if they had a USA version. They will email a response. If so that would be PERFECT!!!!

It doesnt take much current, a small step up transformer would be plenty to run an array of these.
