I had the privilege of seeing B.B. in concert in 1982 and in 1984. Both times, it was a sublime experience. That tone, that beautiful tone. And when he did a slow blues, oh my god, talk about smooth, soulful burning! It was a life changing experience, to witness a master. And B.B. wasn't just a master: he INVENTED the language of electric blues guitar. Think of the guitarists that wouldn't have been (or would not have existed in the same way) had B.B. not lived: Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Allman, Bloomfield, Buchanan, Green, Taylor, Gallagher, Kossoff, Gilmour, Bolin, Cray, and on and on and on, ad infinitum (plus many on this forum, I'm sure). Pretty much the whole of blues/rock guitar history (of course, I'm stating the obvious).

Gonna dig out my copy of "Live At The Regal" and remind myself how it's supposed to be done. Thank you, B.B. for teaching us how to speak "the language".

"A lot of people can do what I do. Some can do it better. They're just not me." - BB King

Such a humble man. With a one of a kind voice. Wonderful guitar player. He could do so much yet I don't think I ever heard him play more than 3 strings at a time. Even that was a rarity. He knew how to put a note in the pocket and how to swing. Some big lessons there.

He had, and will continue to have, a big impact on me. When I think about it, he changed my brain. Thanks BB and rest in peace.

Purple haze all in my eyes
Don't know if it's day or night
You got me blowin', blowin' my mind
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?

Thanks BB & Lucille.

Glad I finally got to see him live. Although he told more stories than actually playing guitar, he still had it. I got to see Albert live also, back in '75, missed Freddy unfo.
There must be a hell of a band up there now.
