"Don't trust every schematic you find on the internet." - Abraham Lincoln
Seriously, folks, make sure to verify a schematic you find on the Google-machine. I cooked a couple parts by following the directions...Luckily, it was only a $2 lesson...

Some schematic drawer-uppers are notorious. I'm not namin' names but I'd double check anything with aPizza on it...

Re: The internet...
Indeed, Tom. I couldn't believe it at first myself. I decided to try a cheap-o amp with some tubes I had kicking around and came across this:

+50 Internets to the person who finds the mistake...Otherwise, it's a cool little design. I'm still fiddling with it, and will likely make my own schematic/layout for others when I get done. Really is a simple/cheap design.

Re: The internet...
Am I wrong or is there 60 vac through the heaters?
Re: The internet...
I think that works. It's a 50V tube + a 12V tube. Close enough.Teleguy61 wrote:Am I wrong or is there 60 vac through the heaters?

That first e cap in the PS.

Don't trust every layout you find either (http://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=14586).

So, what's wrong with that one?jam-mill wrote:Don't trust every layout you find either (http://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=14586).

See the commentary here (http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 198#332198); first two radial electrolytics are backwards. Compare it with this one (http://ampgarage.com/forum/download/file.php?id=39648), which is known personally to be correct.

Re: The internet...
Ah, yes I had forgotten about that. A fine trap for the paint-by-number types.

You win the internets! I blame my unfamiliarity with voltage doublers for not catching it before the smoke...jelle wrote:That first e cap in the PS.
I also didn't like the inputs, so I wired them a bit differently. Not bad for a budget build. I will try to update that schematic to my "as-built" version in its own thread later.
Re: The internet...
This is just my very biased and possibly deranged opinion, but as with schematics, many TABS on the internet are horrendously far away from reality. I ascribe this to all the meth freaks unable to sleep, doing them while they are totally out of it, and then posting anyway.
