Seems to be related to the search function. Going directly to a thread which appears to be emptied reveals that the text is still there.

Seems to be triggered by "&highlight=whatever" at the end of the URL. Remove "&highlight=whatever" and it works fine.

Clever trick. For a while I thought the hacking left something behind wiping out the database, like turning off an old CRT TV and watching the image shrink down to a singularity then vanish. Glad it's good. Most of you can build/fix amps w/o TAG, not so for me.

The forum didn't even load for me this morning.

I use a shortcut to open TAG.

Doing that solves the problem

BUT .....

the forum Administrator can't remove this thing so we are not forced to do this strange maneuver ???

Thanks

I get warning and block unless I OK the warning. Today I can post yesterday got blank pages.

Allyn, do we need worry that our systems or maybe the browser were compromised? I use OSX FF or Safari everything updated. I ran ClamXav and Avast and got an ok but not sure theyd spot an infected browser. IME AV S/W is a day late and a dollar short but makes you feel safe and warm.

It's really getting to be time to install a separate OSX in Parallels and run a sandbox for the internet  They lied to me, the bright future is just a big PITA that takes more time away than it gives back.

Two weeks, you say - maybe I should go build an amp or something.

If TAG disappears we can start over with all new personalities and handles

It was java scripting for popups.

I am scared to be here on a machine with java enabled.. so I am not. :)

It probably goes without saying... but

Uninstall Sun Java if you don't need it (most survive without it).

Update Flash Player regularly (at least every second Tuesday of the month) - http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/flash ... tion3.html

Apply your OS vendor specific updates (Win or Mac) as soon as possible.

Keep your antivirus current.

Windows users - Remove Adobe Acrobat Reader - replace with Nitro reader https://www.gonitro.com/pdf-reader

----

Windows users - Free, fully-featured application update scanner for personal use. It's excellent...

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/

Free advice.. it's worth exactly what you paid. maybe a little more :)

I never have java on and it's explicitly blocked. No local problems, just a mess here.

Thanks for keeping it going.
