I'm down to where it's real.
Kind of hoping it wasn't, but no miracles yet.

I've got a good surgeon. I guess.
Going to get a cow valve, so no lifetime of blood thinners,
but it will wear out eventually, and I'll have to do it again. Or not.
Supposed to be in hospital 5 - 7 days.

I'll be back on the forum soon, I hope. It's too much fun.

Hang in there, Bob. I have a good friend who has had 3 heart valve replacements over the past 20 years, and he is doing very, very well. Still active, working, at age 63. Stay positive - let some endorphins flow.

It is normal to be apprehensive before surgery. It's important to stay positive. You've got plenty left to do on this earth before you leave us for good, so remember that. Besides they've perfected the procedure and you'll be up and around before you know it. My mother-in-law's man friend with whom she cohabits (says it's too complicated to get married at her age) had this done when he was about 85, is still going strong (almost 90 now), and he feels great.

As Leo notes, the anesthesia is probably the worst part of surgery. It's not awful, but it is distracting. As for the main event, they will have you up and around before you want to be and you'll be home before you know it.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. We'll be looking for you middle of next week!

Best of luck to ya , Bob. My mother-in-law has a pig valve, one kidney , one saggy boob, no gall bladder, and a couple of fused vertebrae and she still pisses vinegar at age 82. You'll be fine.
