****Site Problems Update****

Post by Allynmey »

As you all know, the site was attacked in June of 2015 with a spam bot. As you also know, Google has listed the ampgarage.com as a "dangerous" site due to it own alerts by either people (whether malicious or actual) reporting it. Here are the facts:

No one downloaded a virus from this site.
No one computer was damaged or endangered in any way.
The infection just brought people to blanked out page when they signed in.

The files have been replaced/removed.
A sitewatch service has been contracted at my own expense.
Every file is being scanned for possible infection (100,000+ files!)

Making things a little tougher is that Omar's original database password was forgotten by him and is making it more difficult to upgrade to the newer version. I'm working with Omar and a PHP engineer to try to get the site updated in the near future.

Bottom line...I have to be very careful with the upgrade so we don't lose what we've built over 13 years! Thank you for your patience. I'm sure it will be a very short time until Google removes the site alert.

Thanks for all your hard work. This place is a home away from home for many of us.

Thank you for everything you do here, Allyn. Something good must be happening. I noticed today that Firefox is displaying a guitar icon on the page tab!

Yep, my little Amp Garage tab in my "Frequent" sites is a different color, and the guitar shows up. Something's a-brewin'!
