Had a run in with the law today if I was in a different state I might be lookin at ten years . instead I got complimented on my guns and a sratbelt ticket
I have been stopped a couple times by traffic cops since I got my CHL.
The conceal carry class instructor told us to tell the cop that you are
a CHL permit holder.
He also said that the CHL comes up when they run your tag and license.
The first cop, I told that I have a permit and have a gun in the car.
He didn't say anything about it.
I was stopped for not waiting for a pedestrian that hadn't quite made it to the
opposite sidewalk (three lanes away).
Crazy laws.
He gave me a warning.
The second cop I didn't volunteer the CHL and he never mentioned it.
Then thing I like about the Kahr 9mm that it is double action.
So it is the same trigger pull for the first shot as it is for the rest of the rounds.
But usually I carry a Beretta Tomcat in .32acp.
With silver tip bullets it has about the same performance as a .380.
I don't have a liscence I don't think you need on here to have a gun in your vehicle .
The young patrolman was very polite I think he was a little freaked out at first when he saw a big ol pistol layin there . don't guess I blame him two rough looking ambres riding around in oldpickup full of junk. Both of have the most infamous last names in town.
Then the cop started trying to tell me how I needed to check out a glock. I wasn't havin none of that mess
Around where I live, you can legally open carry but nobody does it
in town just because it isn't advisable unless you want contact with a LEO.
However, in central and eastern Oregon, I have walked into stores with a pistol on my belt.
Nobody looks twice at you.
Friendly people over there where everybody waves to each other on the highways.
A lot of ranchers and farmers.
You never know when you might need a friend out there.
Times are changing though....
A lot of times you would just put the pistol on the dash so it is visible especially if you get pulled over.
But it is recommended to have a CHL when driving with a gun in the car.
Otherwise you are supposed to have the gun and ammo separated and stored.
The MO lawmakers are trying to pass a law that would do away with ccls and also a law that you can shoot a criminal outside of your home.
I guess the system is overwhelmed with cary permit applications. I heard the sheriff here say the first two months of last year there was 32 permits applied for this year there's like 360
Very interesting thread. My opinion on the subject is that the firearm that best fits your hand and a round that you can consistently put on target are the prime considerations. That being said all the arms being discussed are good as long as they don't malfunction. At present I have three, a S&W 39-2 that I have had for many years, a Ruger LC 9 and a S&W 4506-1. All work for me in different situations. My rounds of choice are Federal HST 124 and 147 grain in 9mm standard pressure and 230 grain in .45 ACP standard pressure.
By the way, you people are a fantastic bunch, did I mention that I have played guitar for over 45 years and have been building my own amps for about 15.
