Soundgarden Chris Cornell
I don't know if any of you like Soundgarden.
But I liked them a lot when their first album came out.
The song "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart" is classic Cornell.
Similar to "Black Hole Sun" in structure.
It's probably the bit of pop that appeals to me.
Here is a funky video with the song, but Chris may be seeking a actor role.

The new release seems to be credited to Chris Cornell so I am not sure of
the personal that played on the album.
"Higher Truth" was released 2015.
Not sure about the other songs but he must have been storing up songs because the album has 16 tracks.

Thanks, Tom. Big fan. Soundgarden's comeback King Animal is tops.
Also, for Soundgarden fans, don't miss Canada's Big Wreck.

Amazing how much their new singer sounds like Layne Staley.
I think my fav Soundgarden song is Black Hole Sun.

Can't get to utube right now to embed a link, but check out Incessant Mace from their Live Artist Den performance. IMO, one of the best stoner versions....

Re: Soundgarden Chris Cornell
Great minds think alike... Funny, I've not visited here in a week but I've been listening to AIC, Big Wreck and Thornley all week. Great stuff I've had in the collection for years. Good memories!
No connection to here, I was playing AIC for inspiration while designing my latest wah... The Cantrell mods are spot on... and the Halo inductor makes it so sweet!
I wish I had my vintage Guild SG copy back... Like those in Kim Thayil's collection. That one taught me why I love mahogany guitars.

Re: Soundgarden Chris Cornell
love Chris Cornell and Soundgarden stuff too, though I was not a fan when they first came out, probably started listening to them post 2003.
Chris did a song with Slash a few years ago that I like too, slashes tone is mince on this one but I like the song

Yes, I am no Sound Garden fanatic other than I like several of their songs.
And if you don't, that's fine too.
I was listening again to the new song by Chris Cornell, "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart'.
Man, I have been listening more to this new album but that song Broken Heart is really good.
If you listen to it on a fairly high quality system the way they layer the rhythm and how it builds really makes me respect them more as musicians
and the engineers much more.
The pause with the Tom Tom roll breaks the silence between vocals.
But I'm sure Chris has a lot of input.
Intro is mandolin.
The verse starts with a muted sound, like palm muted mandolin or guitar,
It really sounds like pizzicato with delay (like when you pluck violin strings).
The Fuzz tone solo in the middle at first I didn't like but it has grown on me.
I suppose it is kind of a pop song in the way it is structured, but I find several things in it refreshing, to hear more thought going into a song or composition.
Maybe there is still hope for Rock.
Here's an MP3.
