Tom,

I know that this is a hard road that you've been set upon- but you can beat it. The human brain has an enormous ability to reconfigure itself, and you will do it.

You thoughtful insights and steady hand are sorely missed here on TAG. Stay strong brother!

jelle wrote:Ok guys, Diane, Tom's wife just gave me a call and informed me why Tom has been offline. She also asked me to put this online for you all to read, so please understand that I am putting this here as per her request.

It is bad news. Diane informed me that Tom had a stroke or a series of strokes several months back.

As a result, he currently has general amnesia. He cannot read, write, or speak full sentences. He does not know his passwords to TAG, email etc. So Diane cannot log in and make contact with others, which has been difficult. She thanks us for reaching out. She read this thread out to Tom, and that he recognized us, and Diane was very much touched by that.

Tom is expected to recover, but it is unsure how much he will recover and how fast, the Neurologist said it will take time for new connections to be formed that will restore the memories.

She also asked me to keep Tom in our prayers.

Tom, I am so sorry this happened to you, I hope to see you back here. Diane, this must be intensely difficult, all the best. :(

Jelle
Thank you so much Jelle for taking the time to reach out to our friend.
It is heartening to read the lovely messages from folks on TAG, but also upsetting that Tom has suffered with his health like this.
We are all here, waiting for you to get back on TAG, Tom.
Thanks to Diane for letting us know. Thinking positive stuff for a good outcome, get well soon, brother!

Thanks for the report, jelle. Tom, I wish you all the best in your recovery. Sending positive vibes your way. Diane, thank you so much for your communication, and I hope for a quick turnaround, for both your sakes. Miss seeing Tom around here. He's always a positive presence.

Tom, fight hard and it will come back. The will to live is capable of more than we would think possible.

I had major surgery go south on me four years ago but I did survive it and have largely recovered.

It takes a lot of time and patience but we are all awaiting your return.

So sorry to hear this about Tom, and I wish him a speedy recovery. I know how tough it is to fight back from medical issues, and I hope he can beat this. I have other friends who have, so here's hoping Tom can, too! Good luck, sir!

Tom, since you're a Dumble fan and builder, it's a foregone conclusion that the crystal lattice between your ears will sort itself out in no time. We'll see you back here soon, I'm sure of it.
