I tried seeing up a free cert, but the housing provider blocks it. Basically paid certs at pretty expensive, so some how we would need to pitch in to a pool of money for Allyn to cover the costs

We'll need to know the cost if we want to raise the money. If not unreasonable, I feel certain we can get it done.

Yesterday when I downloaded that JTM1 schematic on a thread my CPU went crazy with double images and then Google Chrome now says Ampgarage is a bad site to go to.

Odd, I've viewed that file on two separate devices on chrome and still not seeing that. Anyone else?

I'm using FF right now, but just went over to Chrome to have a look. Chrome didn't blink. It seems fine.

Mark, I'm not an IT guy, but I do a certain amount of low level "stuff." For this, I'd suggest deleting the relevant cookies and clearing your browser cache. It just might fix it. Then, again, it might not. Little to lose, a little more to gain.

If you want to go a step further, you might use the free d/l of Ccleaner. Get it from Piriform, the publisher, so you don't get an altered copy with a payload. (Don't ask me how I know about such things.) Write down all frequently visited websites, logins, and passwords, as Ccleaner is likely to wipe these. It is very good at clearing out all sorts of temp files you don't need and that might be causal to the problem.

Good luck.

Yeah I am an IT guy and was going to suggest the same, it may just be badly cached data in your browser, and some other general bug that caused this behavior. Do you regularly update all of your apps etc?

All the suggestions Phil gave are very good ones.

Yes I regularly update apps and clear history.

It is working now, I had to continue beyond the warning and then I tried Ampgarage again and the warning was gone.

I normally use microsoft edge on my cpu and that has been good.

Possible pdf bug

Post by JazzGuitarGimp »

Hi Phil,

I've just started having an issue with pdf attachments; when I try to open one, it considers it a download. When I go to my Downloads folder, the file extension has been changed from pdf to php, and when I try yo open it, it appears as gobble-dee-goop in a text editor app.

Mac OS X 10.10.5
Safari 10.1

Cheers,
Lou

That's actually being caused by an add-on I installed, I may just disable it. It's supposed to open external links in a separate window, and works for those, but treats the local files wrong

Thanks, Phil. I haven't tried it, but am I correct in assuming all I need do is change the file extention back to .pdf for the files to open properly? That's a simple enough solution, assuming it works...

Yes exactly, just change the .php to .pdf, but now I can't find one to do it so I can debug it and possibly fix it. What's one you just downloaded?

I know it's happening to me from time to time too, not sure what ones cause the problem, but I just tried like 10 different pdf's from different locations locally and they all open fine.

Dumble Files / 3rd Generation Period Correct ODS 50W, then it's the 7th post down (by mdroberts1243) and the file in question is ODS50W-3rd-en-generic.pdf By the way, if there is an easier way to get to a specific post (like by posting a link, rather than a drawn out description, please do educate Mr. Dummy.... (that'd be ME) :-)
