Delete your Facebook account here

Post by Reeltarded »

This is similar to the link Facebook was forced to send me after I threatened them with a class action case.

https://www.facebook.com/help/delete_account

Follow that link and follow the instructions. It's as simple as that and not returning for two weeks. Make suer you are logged out on all devices in the case an acxident happens and someone ends up logging you in on a shared device.

You can look at the list of your devices in settings on Facebook to log out the whole list and make sure if you don't have access to a machine that has previously been logged in.

I am pretty tuned in. My story is a few months ago I was sick of feeling paranoid; I decided to think outside the box. I realized notifications were tricking me..

I unfollowed all 378 of the people on my list. Not unfriend, not blocked; unfollowed.

It broke the algorithm.

I deleted each of my images and all of my content one at a time. It took forever. It took two days. I deleted everything. Soon, within hours, I was offered hudreds of event notifications from friends of friends, feminine targeted products, groups I would never have intrest in.. then when X'ed all those out, it started throwing 'people you might know' into my notifications just like it shows then for friend suggestions.. but it was all the algorithm could throw at me to give me that rush of dopamine... that I never get, because I am one mean bastard.

The notification delay you see between the page loading.. count.. one tw..PLING.. that is called "slotting". It literally plays your emotions on every reload as fast as it can find a match that it can notify you of. It's a casino tactic.

Get out of the aggregate and back into reality. Stop allowing the worst people on Earth to control you for profit while you become even slightly (or maybe even more.. way more) ineffective in living your life.

This is a call for abandonment. Orwell imagined a government imposed eye that sees all. Huxley imagined a brave new world that wasn't brave, wasn't new, and was hardly a World.

We have allowed it all to be imposed on us by corporatism. Who owns you?

Good luck. Ask if you have any questions. Argue if you think I am crazy. You can live without this as I have. I have not been happier in years. This is the first step back to normalcy for many of us. A return to self.

I've about had it with FB as well, the only problem is that it's also the only way I keep in touch regularly with some of my old army buddies and family. I should use something else, but I don't.

I also would immediately shrink my potential YouTube viewers if I stopped sharing my videos to many groups there. It's a catch 22 sadly. I have always assumed they're selling my personal information so I've opted to pretty much only post things I expect the world is okay knowing. I also assume the NSA and several other government agencies do much more nefarious things with your personal data. I spend more time a day playing games, making amps and videos, than on FB. (or here for that matter lol, I post here 5x more often then FB.) I get it, though, I think it wouldn't ever be 'bad' for a person to disconnect.

Welcome in my world!

I recently opened a dummy facebook account for my kids to be able to play online games through a single dedicated device, though :?

Make sure they do nothing but play the games. Do not let them get into the culture of machine service.

It's not about privacy; it is about not being drugged, firstly. You think you are smarter than the algorithm, and you are.

The algorithm is persistant. You aren't.

What is democracy and what is freedom and what is anything corporate that doesn't serve the intrests of humanity?

We need to decentralize friendship. Facebook is an unclean bathroom, not a park bench. The feedback loop creates your identity, first online as a persona, and then in actual life you become a proxy for all the bad ideas whether you notice or not.

That's all. It's a midwife for a still-birth.

Mark Zuckerberg has never made one true statement that I can find. He talks like a pleading focus group made from uneducated mothers. People with weird perception. Imbalanced. I might sound harsh. It's because I am.

Anything corporate that serves the interest of humanity?!.

Well, well, well... I think I'm going to play some music for it - maybe a prayer :?

I don't like that but I guess it's part of their education to learn how to make a clever use of these tools while remaining aware of these drawbacks I'm upset with.

The main trick with FB is to NOT accept all calls for friends, groups and god-knows-what... that does not interest you....

FB has turned into an agenda platform. I just want to read/hear about music, dogs & cats, good food, and places to go on vacation (when I can do that!). Other than that, I know how to contact all of my friends. Whatever I post on there is fine for public consumption, I posted it, I own it, I fact check it before I post.

I realize that's not what most do on FB...I'm just old fashioned.

I don't find a way to ethically support something that destroys people, that is the crux for me.

Could you give me some examples of how facebook has destroyed people? I've heard of a lot of shady crap they've done ,but so far all I've seen is that allows people to market to them better. The third party bad behavior wasn't facebook's design, but they allowed it to happen by being negligent, not intentionally.

I agree it's got a ton of problems, I used to try to correct the 95% of my friends 'news' they share that is wrong, but gave up and focus on the positive. This is just like real life to me too, so that part isn't much different on FB vs OFF.

Use this man's name on youtube. It wasn't by accident. It's just as I thought. It's intentional and by design.

You are talking about the superficial shit the news picks up. I mean someting determinative and devastating to any culture. Much deeper than an infomation sale.

You can find 100 conversations straight from the horses.

I've read his point of view, I don't know that I 100% agree with it, and it's just his opinion. There's been some research starting to trickle in showing this is caused by smart phones and tablets, not specifically facebook. People will need to start learning to put them down and live. :D I get the fear, I don't think it's as serious as some are making it out to be but I'm wary and watching.

It isn't an opinion. It's a confession. I didn't need the confession; you asked what's the harm. The guy who created the harm told you.

(insert a commercial about a family who never sees each other when they sit in the same space and a society where 80% of the people in their active years don't understand any issue to a point of competency of having a valid opinon)

That is what a feedback loop can do when you are fed the shit you think. I'm not afraid. I've never been anything but angry.

This isn't about the TV news reports or congressional hearings on fake news or Russian ads. This is about a black mirror where people are reflected back in their own faces with an arc light.

Have you read any Plato, Phil?
