I just finished building a high gain "Jose Marshall" 25 watt amp and it has no detectable hum. The reason I ordered one 8 inches deep was to keep the tubes and heaters away from the preamp, tonestack, and volume controls. Also, I etched PCBs based on that size chassis, so I would have to modify my layouts to use less space. I was hoping to get a chassis exactly like the one I just built because I am planning on selling it.
The 17.5x6.5x2.5 chassis looks like a great deal and I will order one if the Watts order doesn't happen. The ones from Watts have an inserted threaded nut on theirs. What is the best way to mount yours? Rivnuts?

Not to beat a dead horse any more than they need to be beaten, but this is the message at the top of the watts web page
So better get your orders in now
Please note: We will be on vacation through July 18. All current orders will be attended to before we leave but please note that any orders placed after 6/19/18 will be on hold until 7/19/18
I ordered a chassis from Watts May 25th. Processing status since then. Ken hasn't responded to three emails sent, one requesting to cancel the order.
Over almost two years now, I have received 6 other chassis from Ken. And other parts. Almost always there was something wrong with the order. Missing parts, wrong parts. It was always resolved, but still frustrating.
The very first order from Watts was stolen out of my mail box. There was about a 20 minute gap between delivery and me checking the mailbox. Gone. Not Kens fault of course. A turret board and wire was probably a bit disappointing for the thief.
I recently started buying parts from Hoffman. Always fast shipping and no order errors.
I don't know the exact number, but I think I've ordered well over 20 times from Hoffman, I know of one mistake, I ordered a 250pF cap and got a 20pF cap, something that's obviously expected and can happen, he just sent me a new cap the day I found out. Outstanding customer service, thanks again EL34!
Very enlightening and confirms my experience. I thought maybe because I am a "noob" that I was being ignored. I emailed him about two months ago about an amp kit I was very interested in. No response. I then called him on the phone and got his VM. Never any response back. I went w/ Trinity on a kit instead.
So Doug, shouldn't you show the rivnut (as it would be used) with the bolt head on the opposite side of the rivnut flange? If someone uses it like you picture, the rivnut will surely pull out of the chassis, yeah?
Or does the user install it and crank on it with the bolt head against the flange and the rivnut expands on the opposite side?
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?
