Yee-ouch!!

Post by stelligan »

FWIW - I am not a middle aged woman. I do, however, have severe bone on bone arthritis in both thumbs. I have been fighting surgery but finally gave in.
Amp building will be a spectator sport for a while......

oof! I have a lot of issues with arthritis already myself, and I'm not a woman, nor am I over 50 **yet** that comes next year :) Mine's a combination of genetics (thanks mom ;D) and the pounding the military put on me in the infantry lol.

Get well fast!

Wow, that whole process seems like a first draft idea for a repair. I guess they don't have thumb joints yet. Hope you get some relief and can sling solder soon!

Dayum! Can't this stick a titanium "bone" or the sumpin' else in there?!?!? Hope that works out for you. My wife has had the condition in her thumb joints for 15-20 years ... can't remember how long.

Thanks for all the support, guys. Cast off and splint on Thursday. No thumb motion for 4 more weeks, then therapy. My left hand is bad also so I need to be careful not to over work it. :? Off work until 12/13 but bored to tears......

Get well that looks nasty.

My arthritis is kicking my ass too! Plus fibromyalgia makes me so tired.

Happy to report the thumb surgery was a success. I had that and carpal tunnel surgery done at the same time. Recovery and rehab was longer and more painful than I hoped, but I'm happy overall. Only downside was that all the inflammation from surgery exacerbated a trigger finger in my pointer. So severe that I had another surgery to release that......

Baby steps - building a Tweedle Dee in a Vibro Champ chassis for my brother. Not a ton of strength yet - way less pain :!:

Right on! Any time you can say "way less pain", that's an awesome bonus!
