Can you identify these riffs?

Post by Goldguitarguy »

I’m sure a few of you seen the video of Dumble playing with Henry Kaiser. There’s two riffs Dumble plays in this video that sound awful familiar to me that I can’t place and it’s driving me nuts now. One starts at 1:58 and the other at 7:19. If you can stomach enough to listen to Kaiser play again here’s the link to the video. When I first watched this I thought it was a joke or parody of some sort. Kaiser is probably the reason why you have to send Dumble a demo...lol

I posted this on TeleDepot too because it’s killing me. The first riff is Just Got Paid by ZZ Top.

Second riff is still up air.

Possibly the worst noise emitted from a Dumble ever. WTF 6 parts?!? Listening to that should involve an award. Was this designed to break wills in Guantanamo?

More than likely that's right... I smell an infringement suit coming. Either way, it's a poor imitation. Sorta like being in the guitar store in the '80's when people couldn't read the sign, "No Playing Stairway to Heaven" and both customers and employees would suffer.

I submit the 2nd one is just a random noodle that resembles something or other, really no different than the first one in that respect.

I truly mean no disrespect in this comment, but I always wondered if this was some sort of a "spoof" video?

It's so bad and hard to watch I have wondered that myself. I have never made it past maybe the first minute. But I just don't see Alexander Dumble as in on a goof when it comes to someone playing and representing his amplifiers. But who knows...

That's Henry Kaiser playing, right? I read all about him. On paper, he's a genius. To my ears, he's a toddler.

Hello --

What's with such a hate on?

Like Sonny Sharrock, Pete Cosey, Vernon Reid, Bill Frissell, and more. Heck even Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Ornette Coleman, etc ...

More to sounds than just Peter Green or Robben Ford.

Best .. Ian

Funny as my son basically said the same. Personally fighting urge on an Afterneath reverb, which sadly is on sale at my local music store.

Sorry Ian, going to have to disagree with you. The musicians you list are great artists with or without a bunch of goofy boxes. Having said that, I think a guy like the Edge has had more influence on guitarists than most, because of his creative and artistic use of effects.
