Tiny spring needed

The spring from my old trusty needle nose pliers popped out and ran far, far away. Does anyone have a ~3mm diameter, ~10mm long spring?

SOLUTION FOUND! Pull spring from under flint in Bic lighter. Clipped off 10mm, works perfectly in pliers. Spring was so long, I put remaining length back in lighter, and it still works!

Couple nights ago I pulled a little too enthusiastically on a tiny spring in a Craftsman ratchet wrench I was taking apart, and it went flying. It made the faint “yeah, that was the sound of me landing on something. Or was it the sound of me bouncing off something, before landing silently somewhere else? You’re never gonna know, because you’re never gonna find me, chump” sound and everything. But I found the little sucker after about ten minutes of looking.

Lol I seem to do this multiple times on every build with some nut or small screw. it's like this small terror of "oh no, do I have enough to just let it go or.... ?"

I changed the flooring in my workspace to dark flat FLOR tiles so I could find stuff that falls and avoid the sproingy ricochet. Now it just bounces off my leg and into oblivion

Seems old Strat whammy tension springs might be about that size and stout.

I think that a drop of silicone sealant placed in the hole on one of the tool halves will help to avoid similar problems in the future

Yes, and thanks for reminding me I had to clean my workshop.

This way, I could find a few eyelets that were managing to escape the board, while I was managing to rivet them in place ...

Finding them would have been much harder, if even possible, a few days before...

Consider yourself fortunate that yours uses a coil spring. My favorite (cheap) needle nose pliers has a broken leaf spring. (You know, 2 thingys on one side and 1 in between on the other side.) I have no clue how to fix it. I just get by with what's left of it.
