My guitar is picking up a crazy amount of noise which gets a bit slightly better when i touch the strings. But if i touch the magnet pole of the pickup the noise goes nuts!
Sure i have a ground loop problem in my shop.
Anybody got the same problem?
The pole magnets are never grounded on guitars an i don t think this would solve my problem.
The pickup is a signle coil jazzmaster style but with one magnet bar as a pole piece. I made it.

Re: Guitar pickup magnet noises
Is it possible the wires are swapped on the pickup?
Re: Guitar pickup magnet noises
The wire may be shorting to the magnet.
Live with it (yes, swapping the wires around may help), or rewind it, with the magnet insulated better.

I have wrapped the magnet with insulated tape many turns around before to start winding, how could it be that the wire which is also insulated is shorting to the magnet?
Re: Guitar pickup magnet noises
How about checking it with a meter?

What should i look for using a multimeter?
Ok please act like i didn’t ask something that stupid
So the hot lead is connected to the magnet and i really don t understand how this could happen.
In this case, if i swap the two wires the magnet is going to be grounded.
There is no short between magnet and the ground wire.
