Certificate issues

Post by pompeiisneaks »

It appears the shitty hosting provider decided to overwrite the certificate for the site with one for one of allyn's other sites. I am about done dealing with them. I'm trying to decide if I have the motivation to sit with their support while they fix it or not. If they don't most peoples browsers are going to tell them not to come to the site.

I really hate this hosting provider and that allyn wont let me take it over in a smart way.

I told it to get bent.

people won't see it right away, it seems my browser tab that has the site already 'loaded' is keeping the old cert, any new windows/tabs show the error... so yeah. Likely most people are going to not come back once they close out and re-login.

FWIW, I just got the danger warning in Firefox 111.0. Sorry this is such a hassle. Things shouldn't be so hard. Phil, thank you for all that you do!
Addendum: Firefox wanted to update itself, which required closing and restarting. Now it's 111.0.1 and this site loaded without the warning. Maybe that's because I was just here a minute ago and allowed FF to bypass the warning.

Yeah it may have cached that you 'trust' it at least for a while.

I'm pretty much done giving allyn my professional skills for free...

Thanks for all your trouble, buddy. I hear you. We need a backup place to yack in a threaded manner.

I have one, a while back I created a clone of the site in case something went really awry, but I didn't want to be a total 'thief'

I could let people know about that one if interest is there, but I also don't want to ruffle feathers.

Thanks for dealing with all of that nonsense Phil. I like the blue board and blue background on the archive, looks very fresh. I'm also getting the "not secure" warning on Brave but no issues if I click on a link from my history.

Got a warning with Chrome just now. Clicked on by though.

Thanks for your efforts Phil. Keep me on the list if there's a switch.

Well now I'm seeing complaints that I"m not responding to email.

I do get email, but not a ton, so I'm guessing that means the forum regularly doesn't get email to me because it's considered spammy. (not the forum the hosting provider's IP space is all suspect)

Getting to the point that there's next to nothing I can do to fix 'this broken'
