Think good thoughts...

Post by xtian »

Please pray, or light a candle, or slaughter a tofurkey... I am trying to buy a lot of 50 excellent guitars, plus amps and accessories, at a heavy discount from the mother of a RIP musician. I am applying for a resale license, fictitious name statement as Monkeymatic, and liability insurance...totally going legit. Deal could close as soon as Friday.

Stay tuned!

Waiting is a fool's game. Drive up there in a rented truck and turn on the emergency flashers.

"Day 1: Life has become silent except for the clicking of the flasher switch. After 7 minutes I have become numbed to it's pointed report.. that outside the boundaries for 100 feet in every direction amber shadows cast a promise.. a promise that I'll have to start the engine before the battery is drained.."

No deal ever happened. Lady moved everything into her office, freeing up her bedroom to live in. Anyway, I invoiced her for my time, and we ended up trading for a 2011 Gibson SG Standard. Such a beautiful guitar. But! The $250 Harley Benton DC-LTD I got plays better.

In the hands of an experienced luthier, a proper setup of that SG should make it play like butter. Take it to someone in the know. Skip the DIY setup...you know the labor rates: $50/hr for regular setup, $100/hr if you wanna watch, $150/hr if you fixed it first. In less than one hour, it will be perfect unless there is some unfixable defect.

There's nothing wrong with the SG. It's set up nicely. Compared to the Harley, I dislike the SG's jack location, strap button location, string angle across the body---original design choices that are preserved forever because "vintage!" The Harley has stainless frets and feels great under my fingers.

As they say, there's no accounting for taste! Are you keeping it? It might sell for a good price.

Keep in touch with her, without making a pest of yourself. Some people need more time, when it comes to dealing with deaths of family members. Others just run hot and cold.
