Sorry for not posting in a long while, and... it may continue

Post by pompeiisneaks »

I've found myself not coming to keep up with the inundation of new account requests over busy weekends etc, and then finding myself avoiding coming because the number of new account requests is becoming too much of a royal PITA. I can't just turn it on auto or we get too many spammers. the auto tools like recaptcha etc, are so easily bypassed it's a joke. But if I don't approve accounts over say 2 days now, I have 100+ new account requests and manually checking them all is becoming too much. At this point I'm no longer wanting to approve new accounts. If there is anyone that wants to take over that role, I'd be happy to teach you how, but it does require being a site admin, so I'd prefer it's someone people are comfortable with, i.e. a bit longer standing member. If not, I think at this point I'm going to likely be slowly fading into darkness (I'll be able to help out in any crises, but not likely to post here much more often either) Sorry. The years of working on the site with no real ability to make it better has finally taken it's toll on me.

Here comes a planned hostile takeover. Did you see that militant 'liberty' primate in the other thread?

Totally understand, Phil. Hopefully a little time off to recharge will rekindle your enthusiasm. We'll be around when you decide to visit!

Three cheers for Xtian! Thank you Xtian for offering to keep this amazing site alive!
I am dealing with ageing parents and do not have the time but maybe someday later I will.
All the best Phil. Like it was mentioned previously we are always here when you decide to come back. Life changes and old interests can suddenly become popular again! I know because it has happened to me.

Cheers

Thanks for your long-standing service in a grueling time suck, but do what is necessary to allow enough time to build and post.

I always thought you did a real fine job. I noticed you fixed my lack of ability to use the quotes button several times.
