I bought a solid walnut apartment. Uh, speaker cabinet.

Post by xtian »

Just picked this up for $50. Had to drive 80 miles to Auburn, but couldn't resist. Plus I got to have lunch with my uncle, so that was nice. This cabinet's top and sides are solid, single piece, claro walnut. The top is 36" x 18" x 0.83". Cutout is for a 15" speaker, but has a 12" speaker adapter installed. You have to remove a lot of the baffle and supports in order to swap the speaker, so I may remove the existing grill and make a snap-on grill to make front loading the speaker easy.

Cool. Looks big enough for a 2x12?

Crappy looking miters. The sound is going to leak. Send it over here for disposal. I don't mind doing a favor for a fellow Tagger.

Seriously nice looking walnut. I understand that stuff grows well in sunny CA. I'd be tempted to take it apart and reconstruct the whole thing, just because I can, LOL.

Make a new baffle if you can. I wouldn't fiddle with what I see there. Looks more trouble than it's worth. Good find. Good luck.

Totally agree. (Except for sending it to you, Phil...)

Already made a new baffle, sanded and got some gloss poly on the thing. Wowz.

Wow! That's some beautiful wood!

With no baffles in it, it looks like an empty canvas-possibilities are endless.

While waiting for the paint and polyurethane to dry, I knocked out this 3D printed jack panel.

This cabinet came out nicely. Sounds great, with a Celestion G12H and Eminence Wheelhouse 150.

Per board ft.. total win!

The dimensions of it beg to be stuffed with wadding. Get that thing away from the wall!! It needs a little pedestal.

I love it!

Congrats Christian! Looks amazing in the room.
I love mixing Eminence Hemp speakers with Celestion G12 speakers.
I recently did a 2x12 with a Cannabis Rex and a Celestion G1265 and it sounded amazing with an Overdrive Special on the overdrive Channel.

Happy Friday

I hear you. In my mind, piezo is it's own instrument. Electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piezo guitar: three different instruments.

Truly. To make a dime's worth of ping I have always had to use $30,000 worth of processing and then not use it.

Rodney Mills had to use a 12 string track on one of my favorite best songs... it was intended to be replaced. It is hard to hear without a thousand cringes. On the same recording, we did one song on the front porch at 3am with two mics. Best ever. (Roll Down Your Window) and at the end a car drives by as if mixed by fate.. and it was.

Ping Ping Ping

Ride My Bike. (sigh)

Wow looks killer. Beautiful wood. I think the wicker grill that Mesa used would look classy. I'm not sure if its actually available.
