Re: Jeff Healey RIP
Wow, thanks for the intro Mark. I've never heard of him but I intend to pick up one of the jazz CDs. I love that old stuff. His voice is perfect for it too.

I first saw him in the movie Roadhouse. My first thought was, "He can't really be getting those riffs with the guitar in his lap" Then I bought some of his CD's. Amazingmhuss wrote:One of the most unique ways of playing every invented...

Jeff has been an iconic canadian musician for a great many years, I will greatly miss his talent, and exceptionally humble sincerity. I wish that in his living years he had recieved the attention he so richly deserved IMO.
An incredible musician, I always told people to go hear him play live, the recordings were not even half as good as when he went live wire on stage.
A great loss.
Rock in peace man, catchyalater eh.

Re: Jeff Healey RIP
A friend of mine, Rob, grew up with Jeff in Toronto. They gigged together in and after High school and recently Rob started playing with Jeff again, and filling in with Jeff's band when he was too ill from the chemo to play.
Here's a picture of Jeff, his wife and son at Rob's Wedding.

And playing at the Wedding

Last year Jeff gave Rob his Jackson Doubleneck, the one he bought for "Angel Eyes" http://youtube.com/watch?v=QYz_LHKrgDY Great (brief) shot of him playing it in the last seconds of this video.
The pic attached is me posing with it in Rob's backyard last summer. Interesting playing that guitar. It's very roadworn, lots of fret wear and worn finish but NO wear on the back of the neck. It weighs about 16 lbs, but Jeff didn't care, it was on his lap. The PU's are Seymour Duncan's specially wound for Jeff, sounds amazing. Jeff wanted Duncan and Fender to release a Healey Strat model but they never came to an agreement.
I'm kicking myself for not getting to meet Jeff back then, I had an invite but was pressed for time so I said "next year". I feel that I knew Jeff through all of Rob's stories about the times they played together, Rob of course driving to and from the gigs.

Another thing. That doubleneck has the headstocks connected. Cool idea you say... just try adjusting the trussrods.
