Bedrock
I've got a bedrock 600 series combo in the shop. Used to see them in
guitar player a lot, and used to live across the river from Nashua NH where
they were made. I remember they got into some serious hot water concerning
an amp they cloned just a little well, and were forced to shutter the operation.
Any more info or lessons we should all take away from their experience?

Re: Bedrock
I remember the first adds I ever saw of Bedrock and they looked like a small Marshall head and review was good. I always wondered what happened to them.

How different does a circuit have to be to not be an infringement? For instance, do the "salt and pepper to taste" tweaks we all make to new builds make enough difference?

Re: Bedrock
First off I don't get it. Has anyone ever heard of Marshall or Fender threatening all the people that sell clones or their versions?
It seems like the smaller amp companies are the ones crying about copying. Sure some will contact you to let you know that your using their amp line name or something like that. That happened to Dr Z when he was trying to build an amp line using his grandson's name and finally had to call it EZG 50 (Evan Zaite ?) can't remember the last name of the grandson off hand.
How many cabs look the same, Bruno and Matchless have the same looking cutout on the top of the cabinets.
Business is a crazy entity of its own. Mark

Re: Bedrock
I have seen some great concerts where Bedrocks were used. I loved that sound for that particular band. What exactly happened to Bedrock? Issues with the BC-75 series? What is the Royal a clone of?
Sorry to be asking so many questions. I'm just curious by nature!

Re: Bedrock
Well........ that's exactly the same questions that lead me to post.
I got one of their amps to service, and I remember that they went under,
but I don't remember specifics.
I had heard that the royal was too close to something, ? . and maybe a lawsuit,? .
But that's it, they were growing, and then they were gone.

Re: Bedrock
I think I heard he might be doing better biz running the GFS site: parts/bodies/ etc. Pretty good-quality import stuff, too. I've installed several pickups, bridges, and such.

Re: Bedrock
So Jay of Guitar Fetish was the one behind Bedrock amps?
Interesting.
He used to visit a guitar forum I belong to, never would have known the connection.
I kind of remember the brand name although it's been a while.

Re: Bedrock
At a long-ago NAMM Bedrock booth I saw a CBS Twin; they'd restored one half [Vib. channel] to good-as-new BF and the left half remained tattered, inc. half the old SF aluminum faceplate....almost like a line was drawn down the middle of the combo.
I wished I had it. You could really spoof kids and say 'Listen to the BF. Sounds better, right?'

Re: Bedrock
Bad luck, the AC30 reissue contract going to Marshall and an Investor pulling out killed them from what I understand.
One of the main men from Bedrock died a couple of years ago unfortunately.
I own a 50W 600 series 1x12. Cool cool amp. Great OD channel and circuit design. Never seen EL84's run that hot in anything before.
