Add reverb to a Bassman
I guess this has been dealt with before, but I can't find much information about it.
If I was to build a 5f6a/JTM45 type of amp from scratch, where would I insert a reverb circuit? Preferably a pretty much stock blackface reverb circuit, since I have parts for that.
The puzzle is of course the cathode follower and the tonestack placement. Is it even possible to insert a blackface reverb circuit somewhere?

Hoffman forum has this schematic

Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
Great, thanks! My next question was how to add tremolo to it
At first glance, it doesn't look exactly like a typical Fender reverb, but I won't say any more until I've studied it closely.

Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
I have used that type of one tube reverb on amps numerous times and really like it. I actually prefer it over the Fender reverbs because this allows a few more mids to be verbed which gives it a better tone to my ears. Not saying it's better just that I prefer it.
That type of one tube reverb isn't going to do the surf stuff for you if that's what you're looking for.
I find the dwell pot to be important doing this and usually have the dwell on about "7" & the reverb pot typically around "3-4" which gives me all the reverb that I personally want.
The one tube reverb idea came from the dumblish clone guys.
Just an FYI. With respect, 10thtx

I also like it because it's not over the top surf style like the BF reverb design.

Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
Another candidate is the Ampeg reverb, which doesn't use a transformer.
There's a discussion and schematic about halfway through this thread:

Check out Tubewell's 5b6B with reverb he has schematic and layout further down in the above post.

CAN THIS THREAD BE MOVED TO THE NEW FENDER SECTION
Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
Oh, there's a Fender section now? I didn't notice.
I have a transformer and spare tubes in the (Epiphone) chassis I'm planning to use. I'm not against trying other circuits, but it would be nice if I could use the transformer and reverb tank I already have.
Will the Hoffman circuit require different impedances etc compared to traditional Fender?
The basic problem here is I don't really understand reverb circuits, as you might have guessed.

Re: Add reverb to a Bassman
I've always used an "replacement" reverb transformer and reverb tank like one would use to build a Princeton Reverb. Will the Hoffman circuit require different impedances etc compared to traditional Fender?
tank 4AB3C1B reverb pt 022921.

First topic in the new section, it's an honour. This thread will now be eternal!
