Black tweed?
Does anyone know of a source for a black colored tweed cabinet covering?
Re: Black tweed?
Yes,
You paint it, but I'm not giving away my process .

You get better tone if you use the middle finger to depress the valve on the rattle can.
What?

Re: Black tweed?
Thanks guys! Ha-ha-ha!
I had a feeling these would be the responses I would get!
Many years back I went down the dreaded tweed covering road - I purchased the non-lacquered type and after applying it to a cabinet I then sprayed several coats of poly to it.
It was an unmitigated disaster!
Despite my failure I did try a couple of more times but the end result was not nearly as nice as Billyz's examples.
I swore that I would never do that again! I recently saw photos and a video of the Swart Spacetone 45 and thought that the black tweed looked really sharp. I was hoping then that maybe some supplier was now offering a pre-tinted version of that tweed.
I guess by the comments that that would be a big fat NO then!

Paint it with coffee and cream stout, then load it in the smoker.

tinted lacquer - I believe its sprayed onto the tweed. You can get high from this cabinet for a few weeks after its done

I would think that an alcohol based woodworking dye would work well. (But I thought I could use Ritt dye to make some beige pants black - they came out various shades of purple. Glad they were free.)
Re: Black tweed?
Have you tried going to a fabric store and looking for a heavy black cotton twill, maybe 12 oz. or heavier? Tweed is actually a type of twill, but the term is usually used to refer to wool fabrics, and I'm pretty sure Fender tweed is actually heavy cotton twill (or at least it was in the 50's, maybe it has some synthetic component now). Denim is also a type of twill, by the way.

Ooh, lacqured denim! That would go well with my new tele build.

Re: Black tweed?
Weber offers a black tweed on their kits. Perhaps they would sell you some. Shoot them an email and ask nicely!
