Instead of grounding the center taps to the chassis they are connected to the power tube cathode resistor and first filter cap 'ground' connections
Surely those grounds have to connect to the pre-amp / chassis ground somewhere?

This seems a bit along the lines of Merlin's multiple star grounds arrangement?

The ' power amp floating ground' has not been implemented but now that I've looked closer I realize there is no return path for the preamp ground which attaches to the chassis at the input jack. I'll do more research and revise the schematic and layout.

I went ahead and reverted the the classic power amp grounding scheme.

There would be a lot of silence the way it was shown before, unless the CT was getting to ground in some other way.

From the internet!

I obviously missed a 'minor' detail in the design of the power amp floating ground, so, ah, nevermind.

Sweet Rob. I've visited your web site several times and I'm very interested in this little amp. I'll probably build it after I finish the 5e3 I have in the queue next. BTW, I plan to do the cascaded input mod you have on your site. Thanks for putting all the time in for this and thanks especially for sharing it.
