I'm amazed at the increasing number of Fender amps I see at concerts these days, and the drop in Marshalls and boutique amps.
Most of the Fenders are either silver-face or tweeds - many look like the newer '68 reissue series.
Anybody else notice this, or have an opinion why this is happening?

Re: Fender comeback for pro players
There are certainly fewer Marshall stacks to be seen these days, but I can't say I've noticed any fewer boutique amps around here. The stacks are going because they're a hassle to move and there is more emphasis on keeping stage volumes under control. Fenders BF/SF are always popular because they area good clean pedal platform. If you are seeing fewer boutiques and more Fenders it may be that more pros are relying on backline rentals rather than touring with all their gear. The economics of touring is getting more and more brutal.
