I had an original 5F6a from 59. I stayed clean to about 7-8 on the volume with a Strat. I was very difficult to overdrive plus it was not as loud as a super reverb. It sounded glorious though.

Your amp sounds great to my ears. Good job!,

I have a DIY 2x10 Bassman, with NOS GE 12AY7 in V1.

When I play studio or rehearsals I use a 5u4GB (appx. 400 VDC) for a little more compression (OD a around 4-5) and for live or outdoor, a GZ34/5AR4. (450VDC), gives a little more output and I can run the volumes at 7-8 before OD.

Besides having an impact on voltage, its really weird how different various rectifier tubes (of same type) can sound quite different.

In the HiFi community this been discussed a lot, but I was critical before rolling a bunch rectifier(same type) tubes myself. I've come to believe that finding the right rectifier is key to fine tuning the tone of a Bassman/Super/Deluxe.
