Post by galtjunk »

Does anyone know where I can find a schematic for the 5b1 Champion 600?
Thanks.

No.
I think that is for the reissue. I have the 1953 version of the 5B1.
I looked a the layout and schematic for the 5c1 and I think they are the same as my 5b1.
Thank you.

Most of what you need is here in pictures: http://myfenderchamp.com/2010/08/30/fen ... mber-1570/ It looks to be very close to the 5C1, but details like the B+ voltage and OT primary impedance would require some measurements (and likely wouldn't have been on the Fender schematic). Things like that may be the difference between the two. You have one, so of course you cold get that info ;^).

I checked the 5c1 layout against the amp.
They are the same.
The 5c1 schematic matches also.
My PT is a Triad 6500.
The only numbers on my ot are either TS537 or TS587.
It sounds really weak.
All of the caps are original so I'll start there.

Definitely. New electrolytics, and replace all the waxed paper tubulars with something like Mallory 150 or IC Mylar film caps. Check all the resistors and replace the ones that are out of spec.

What end up being the issue with the amp?

Any gut shots of the amp?

I replaced the caps and the problem went away.
I sold the amp so I can't provide any pictures.
