For my ‘transparent fx loop’, I just stick a mic in front of the speaker cab, feed that into an echo pedal modded to wet only, and feed that into a small 30W solid state combo I picked up for free (it needed a few squirts of cleaner lube in its pots and some dry joints reflowing :D ).
At home, I use the FluxTone cab, so TV sound level when set to min (about -32dB reduction in sensitivity) with a JTM45.
A great feature of my transparent fx loop is that it takes all of 10 seconds to fit to any amp :D

Yes, yes! The wet-dry route has never done me wrong. Might have to make that a thing again.
Just plug it in, man.
