Best 5e3 tweed deluxe kit?
What would be the best tweed deluxe kit? I've seen a lot of recommendations about the Mojotone kit, but I see there are many others to choose from.

Stewmac has excellent instructions similar to the old Heathkit instructions.Ledvedder5150 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 10:46 am What would be the best tweed deluxe kit? I've seen a lot of recommendations about the Mojotone kit, but I see there are many others to choose from.
I see Mojo also has excellent instructions for the 5E3.

One thing not mentioned in that thread that I believe I've noticed lately: The resistors I've received most recently from Weber appear to have thinner/shorter leads than they used to. Not that it would be a deal-breaker for most people; just something to think about.martin manning wrote: ↑Tue Oct 11, 2022 11:52 am Very detailed assessment here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 98#p444498

Not familiar with those, but with the exchange rate right now, it might be a good value, even considering shipping.
Re: Best 5e3 tweed deluxe kit?
The good thing is the kit uses the Hammond transformers - as a non expensive alternative reasonably close to the originals - but this is no more a 5E3.
Maybe you can look carefully at the schematic and see if and what seduces you amongst the options?
While you ask, if I were to order from TT I'd rather buy their 5E3 kit and use it as a foundation for improvements such as true to the original eyeletboard, mojo-added components and maybe cloth cover wires, possibly from other places.
But ... TT sometimes depart from the original in several places so check carefully if that is important to you. NB I've been told that the holes for the pots on the chassis are well US-sized ones.
Have you ever considered buying a Modulus kit, instead?

Hello,I don't think you need a kit. Get a schematic and order those parts from Amplified Parts. Slightly less expensive and much more immersive, proactive wise. The amp I built (5e3) is the best sounding amp I have ever played thru. If you have never built an amp before I would chose a 5f1,well worth it, it's sort of the gateway into the Fender amp world.

I've built 3 other amps. A 1987, 2204, and a DC30. I know I could have sourced all the parts separately, but I just ordered the basic kit from Boot Hill, transformers from Amplified Parts, and a cab from Guitar Cabs Direct.Brebar wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 3:22 am Hello,I don't think you need a kit. I noticed that the StewMac kit has a multitap power transformer with taps for 100, 120, 220, 230, or 240 volts. Any of the other kits have this or options for other Voltages ?
Re: Best 5e3 tweed deluxe kit?
I recently built a Weber 5E3 kit. I subbed a lot of hardware, tube, and components. The Weber kit is good. The cabinet and speaker are outstanding. I am getting ready to build a 5F6A Bassman. Since I have rebuilt and repaired a number of amps and that I have built the 5E3 from a kit, the Bassman I will build from a la carte parts. If you haven't built an amp before, I strongly recommend going with a kit.
