Fender TR Transformer connections

Post by Minnievirginny »

Hello Folks,
I am hoping to establish the correct primary wiring colours on a 606-331 power transformer.
I have just completed a rebuild but am getting very high B+ so I suspect that perhaps the power selector is fauly and/or in the wrong setting. The selector does not move comfortably between settings.
Primary cabling is as follows and resistance to black neutral:
white 3ohms
orange/blue(or black) 5.6ohms
black/white 5.8ohms
yellow/blue 6.3ohms
green/black 6.8ohms
red 7ohms

My intention is to bypass this selector and just use the 240v tap
Grateful for any help.
Thanks for looking

Is the B+ too high loaded or unloaded? What heater voltage do you have on this too high setting?

Rather than saying "very high B+, what is the actual measured B+ in operate mode?

Is the attached pic the same as your PT?

Note that the 3 amp fuse is for 117 volt usage and if your going to run on 240 volt you need to halve that rating to keep the transformer safe.
