Chicken Head Knob Dimensions?

Post by Roaddogma »

I am restoring an original 1959 4x10 Bassman (5F6-A). The amplifier does not have any control knobs, so they need to be replaced. I bought some off eBay that measure 1.25", but they look a little small in the bag. Can anyone confirm the correct length of the chicken head from the pointer-tip to tail?

Thanks.

That's 1.25" American, pretty common size. I'd get high quality new knobs with brass inserts.

I'd rather use cosmological measurements.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

AGREED. The chicken knobs that are 1.0272197e-18 parsecs in length will do quite nicely. If they're not on backorder, of course.
Just plug it in, man.

I was thinking Plank.

I cheated with a calculator.

Right. So did I. That's a nice range. Anything between those two oughta do it.

These are what I got. Measuring 31.6mm. I'm just going to roll with those, hoping they are within tolerance....

Also, This is what else I'm dealing with....

I'm glad for the original board, but the amp is a basket case. The cab is also covered in ratty old black tolex... At least it still has the original iron, so someone needs to give it some love.
