Bias Pot fail safe

Post by proaudioguy »

Does it make sense to tie the input lug (from bias board) and the output lug (wiper to the 220Ks) together just in case the pot ever failed? Particularly on a build, where the parts are probably coming from china? I realize old fenders rarely fail, just wondering if this even makes sense. I feel like it would still work as usual, but if the bias pot failed, it would just go to full -VDC. Am I right?

Yes, correct. This DR replica has a fail safe bias: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 61#p428861

Really cool repurposing of that convenience outlet mounting hole. Very clever , and I will credit you if I ever implement one . Cheers
