Rivera Modded Fenders, Deluxe Reverb II questions

Hi I am new here, and pretty fresh to amp-building in general, but I've been designing a schematic for a modded fender deluxe. It is loosely based off of the Paul Rivera modded deluxes. I have added a fat switch, but am confused at how to draw and implement a switch between lead and clean channels. I want to use Push Pull pots like Paul does. The schematic of the Deluxe Reverb II is very hard for me to follow. Probably a silly question, but what the hell are those boxes with the little plus sign? Where is the guitar signal actually going between the clean/lead channels?

Vactrols. A light dependent resistor and an LED, pretty much like the Fender tremolo roach, but here serving as a voltage controlled switch.
