Re: '66 BF super reverb mods?
I would figure you would need to incorporate the NORMAL channel tube and make circuit changes following one of the many schematics.
Did HAD ever do this type of mod before he went into production??
Does anyone have some documentation of doing this type of stuff?
Thanks!

You know, that is widely considered to be one of the holy grail Fender amps. I've heard rumors that there is a special place in Hell for people who mod them. At least don't do anything irreversible.okinky wrote:hi, i have an original '66 blackface super reverb and was just wondering what mods i could do to it to make it sound more like a dumble? thanks

I agree with firestorm on this one. As long as you have good tubes, filter caps and basic service like tube socket and pot cleaning, it's a real benchmark amp. I'd suggest picking up a silverface Fender and using it for a mod base. (Before they become too precious!)

Re: '66 BF super reverb mods?
I'd just plug a Zendrive into it.
Re: '66 BF super reverb mods?
or sell it and get one of the many D-styled amps available.
You should get good money for a clean amp.

Sounds like a great idea. Any idea what the wait time is lately?
Re: '66 BF super reverb mods?
Please, do NOT mod it. It's ones of the Holy Grails and sound phenomenal tuned in right. Buy a couple of the new high quality pedals like Zendrive, Jetter Red etc and it's all you ever need.

Not for sure, but Alf has really been ploughing through his order backlog - I'd guess he's down to just a few months. With that, prices in the used market should be getting more realistic as well.LarryN wrote:tele_player wrote:I'd just plug a Zendrive into it.

Jetter Gain Stage Red is a fine alternative to the Zendrive if you can't wait (but it'll cost you more though - around $225 I believe).

Thanks, you guys. odourboy, I'm the guy with the Krinard Custom (Two Rock) in Santa Rosa. I still want to get together sometime. So much spare time! I'll be in touch.

I would have to agree with Firestorm and johan, the '66 super reverb has such an awesome tone! You can dial anything and it'll sound good. It's one of my favorites next to a deluxe reverb.johan wrote:Please, do NOT mod it. It's ones of the Holy Grails and sound phenomenal tuned in right. Aack!
Okinky, go by a BBQ kit and model heck out of it. The super you just have to crank to least at seven and let er rip. If it's too loud put in some low db pyle's ala Derek Trucks.
