I wouldn't do this either. The load line is in the wrong place wrt the Vg1=0 knee with the screen voltage up near the plate, which puts the KT88 screens at risk.

Marshall did it on the park amps which often came withkt88s, not to mentioned the 6550s used in the US on marshalls. Most prefer el34s anyway. But the power supply sags alot even w. El34s. The plate voltage drops from ca 500 to 400v. And the screens can sag as low as 320v.

As Roe is saying, the plate voltage sags down a good bit at RMS output and down to about 395 at full output. The screen voltage comes down from there about another 60 volts also. I only had about 2 weeks with the amp but the customer in Texas is loving it. I’m about to build him a 4 hole Hiwatt DR103.
