I think I remember Andy Marshall of THD sharing in a mag that he thought 410v had a special magic something for a Marshall. IIRC the story was that there was a really nice rental Marshall in LA he was trying to hone in on with his Plexi and Type-O amps, and that voltage was part of the formula.

Very insightful info from everyone.

I'll be in the low volt area, around 400 - 415 maybe. Not too far from the mark but I'll see how that sounds. My PT is 315-0-315. I went with Bassman PT iron and JTM OT iron with the 7H choke. I wanted lower B+ because I'll be running original TungSol 5881s hoping they'll sound sweeter this way. KT66s are waiting for a special occasion or a lottery jackpot. :D

Either way, I'll have 8k and 6.6k on a switch so that will be easy to taste test.

for a jtm45 I like around 440v (6k6 or 8k), for a jmp50 around 420v. for a jtm50 I like at 435-50v. all with a 3h, 110R choke
