Thanks alvarezh
I got a white JMP style head cab coming I hope it turns out looking and sounding decent...

Yes, take it slow, the tone stack wiring in tricky with that bass double pot adding to the complexity.

But looks like Slash's "Sweet child o mine" will be coming out of the speakers pretty soon. Hopefully will be the first tune you play on it as it's your creation!

Cheers!

Thanks
alvarezh and Mark
made some progress today...mostly all but power supply.
one question is the PT leads (MC 40-18053)...looking at the pdf, the bias is the green and white leads. So I ground the green and use the white for the bias correct?
Any suggestions or comments are appreciated
some pics

Thanks
Darin

Yes Darin, green to ground (although it doesn't really matter in this case).

Attached a picture of mine, it's a 2550 and the bias is taken from the HT winding, so it's different.

Ceria kit with Sozos and Metroamp Tannies. Sounds pretty decent.

If you ever get into problems with the relay circuit, remember that clean is relay activated, if something goes haywire in the circuit it will go to OD by default.

Another point to mention is that your clean gain cascades into the OD somewhat like the Dumbles, it's tricky to balance the sound between clean and OD.

All the best.

Yes in a simple bias one wire (green) AC bias feed and the other ground.

I had to ask this question on tag myself. :)

Don't have a finished photo and lost my camera this summer but here is how I layed it all out in 2550.

Thanks guys
Those are two nice looking builds...congrats
alvarezh as far as the relay goes. The one I got from Nik
looks more like the one in Marks pic.
I added a diode to the coil...not sure as most pics and all the layouts from Nik are not using a diode on the relay?

Mine is from Doug Hoffman which is also sold by Mojotone.

mine is different from yours also.
Mine looks like the one in the AFD#35 layout from Nik
After looking closer I think I'll need to remove the diode off the coil?
Or will it matter...
Looks like the relays running off the 6.3 AC tap use the diodes at a different spot than the relays using a 5V tap off a PT.

Darin, can't tell from the pics - I'm posting from my phone - keep the diodes across the coil as they protect from the coil flyback.

The diodes on the heater are to rectify the heater ac to dc.

will keep diodes on...just wondering why the diodes are not used
is it a cost factor?

Without looking at the schematic, it is probably cost and may not be needed if he is using brute force mechanical switching as opposed to using transistors to switch the relay. Anyhow, diodes are a good practice and are cheap.

Ceria has changed the relay circuit on their new 2550 (50W). Attached is the layout I used which is from 2009, it conforms to the Marshall schematic and to the 2555 you are building (powered from the heaters).

As John states, keep the diode.

Cheers!
