Cool! Could be really nice capacitors. I replaced the Mallory 150's with Sozo standard caps in my Ceriatone 36W, and that was an improvement.

I have just started an 18W tremolo build. Apparently, the standards aren't made any more and the .022uF vintage is listed as out of stock on the Sozo website. I ended up ordering the, even more expensive, Jupiter Vintage Tone caps. That was about two hours before this post. Hope I like them.

I was willing to try the Orange Drop 6PS caps but I couldn't find those in all the values that I need.

Dr Z stated on his forum that Sozo standard caps are rebranded M150's.

Picture of a 10nF 630V 150M and a 10nF 400V Sozo standard. They may have been made at the same factory but they are not the same.

Yes. The sozo sleeve fits over the m150 with a dab of glue then put the stickers on. Its way bigger.

Anybody that has actually used both Sozo Standards and M150 caps would know that they are not the same product------- different size, different leads, and different tones------ I use them sometimes but I use more M150's, Xicon MPP's, and Mojo Dijons----- and sometimes OD 715's in certain positions.................gldtp99

I've used both and Doc used both so he either doesn't know what he is talking about or maybe he knows more then inside info then we do.

People saying you have to build with such and such cap is all internet Bull shit. There are so many variables to these sound tests that prevents me from taking them serious.

I'm inclined to agree Mark. This is a good discussion on capacitors for audio use, and recently updated: http://sound.westhost.com/articles/capacitors.htm

I agree too - if I can't hear it, I'm not buying it.
Mullard mustards were & are just decent caps.
150s work just the same IMHO.
Resistor snake oil much the same.
Game changers are tubes (V1 / output tubes) & output transformer.

I use caps that I think look cool.I think the stk's look cool I like to use old ones that are big too depends on the color though.

I think big resistors look better than smaller ones.I like the pink ones

Here's an interesting way to examine the response of different caps: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4nylOtSATPk

I am a big fan of the big pink resistors. At a $1.40 a piece you just know that they sound better. The blue BC Components electrolytic capacitors are also quite stylish.

Ok my 2 cents after watching http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4nylOtSATPk

First question is the guy in the video mentioned he does not use his ears and listen but looks at the screen ?
Ask yourself would a sound engineer tune a sound system just by looking a screen ? The answer is no, because a computer and Electronic test equipment does not reproduce real world variables in the same way.

Different Cap types do sound different from each other but there is more to it than just the cap for the end result.

I was told by Bruce Zinky once that if you can't measure a difference using test equipment that there is no difference with parts.

I disagree

If that is true why do the many amps manufactured today sound like ass even using the same circuit design ????
