6AQ5 Super Lead getting upgrades.

Post by randalp3000 »

Built this over a year ago after seeing Kashmir(Zep tribute) and have been gigging it ever since.

If your not aware the 6aq5 is pretty much a 6v6 in a small bottle 7 pin package. They can be had NOS for under $10 a pop at a few places. So far I've built a couple 5e3's, a 15 watt SL, and a 30 watt SL with these. IMO these things sound great and can put up with 325 plate volts for at least a year plus with no wear.

This amp currently has an Edcor PT with Classic tone 50W JMP OP and choke. Waiting for a Heyboer 784-139 to be dropped off by Phil. This is the same OP trans all the super cool, boutique cloners use. Maybe I'll be cool now? :D

this is how it started

Looks great with the mouse turds Randall.
I'll keep my eyes open for a few of those 6aq5s to try out.

Here's a pic of the tubes and an updated schematic.

Marshall experts please let me know if the preamp voltages look ok.
