Hot Rod Plexi 100w number four
The Hot Rod Plexi (HRP) 100w is based off Stephen (Darkbluemurder) AFD #39 preamp schematic he shared. The power section is classic 100w Marshall using five 50-50uf can caps and one 32-32uf can cap. I'm using Valve Storm chassis that has blank front so you can use your own faceplate and drill. Back panel is from Valve Storm.
Rearranged the tone board hopefully I didn't screw up because the last 3 have worked great.
Magnetic Component PT 40-18046 and OT 40-18026 and JTM45 choke.

Stop it!
Looks good - love the high gain fire breathers.
I do have some 100w iron...

Looks great I've not come a cross Valve Storm before I'll have to check them out.
I like the jewel lamp where can I pick one of those up?

Valve storm has those panel lights and Watts Tube Audio sells them plus I think several other sites.

Good job Bob
I got two guys waiting for it to be finished.
Funny my repeat customers are the best, each one has two of my amps already.
If things go well I plan on building 4 more but in 50w version in ebony stained hardwood cabinets one of my customers built for me.

Took a few days off and got back at it today.
Whew too much wiring, almost thought I was inside a Dumble for moment, then I saw there were no relays, and I woke up.

I like it !!
Several years ago I built a 50 watt version based on the same circuit----- but I used 6L6GC x 2 and a Magnetic Components BF Bassman type OT.
A guy came over to my shop to talk about a custom build and I had him play several amps----- he ended up going to the ATM and taking the 50 watter home with him.
It was housed in a VERY beat-up real Marshall JMP 50 big box head cab, the back panel was made of bare plywood---- it looked pretty rough but that didn't seem to bother him---- he liked the way the amp sounded when he played some old Stooges songs.
A couple of years later another customer told me he saw this amp for sale in a music store in Ft Worth---- and the store was asking quite a bit more than I sold it for when it was freshly built----- and they were telling some story about how it had been built by some famous amp builder (I'm definitely not famous).
I haven't seen or heard anything about it since------ that one was a good sounder but it had too much backround noise/hiss as I remember--- and it was prone to feedback---- pretty hot and it was not easy to control when not actually playing.
I've learned a lot about building higher gain amps since then and I've built many amps with even higher gain levels that are much easier to live with.
But that 4 stager did have a very good sound/feel.............. gldtp99

Re: Hot Rod Plexi 100w number four
I remember some of your builds.
I can't wait to get it done, the owners of the 50w and 100w models are going to let a customer play theirs and this one so we can all compare them.
They sure can have hiss but the owners have done some tube rolling and using lower gain tube in V1 as well.

Finished wiring I think. No I just noticed I need to wire the bias pot yet.
My grand daughter wanted me to play babies with her, so I did.
Will try sneak away to fire it up later.

NICE! you have as much wire in that amp as you do the wires sitting outside the amp
LOL - I know what you mean - my granddaughter just went home after I baby sat for 2 weeks, I need a vacation.

Kids are over so often each week since my wife takes them to and from school plus over nights on weekends. We miss them if they are not here.
My bench is an example of not how to properly maintain a work bench during your build.

Good for you Mark
My son just moved back to the area and time with him is high priority
My table is also an example of " how to not properly maintain a work bench".
And I'm not churning out near as many great builds as you.
Build looks great BTW
