50w Studio One build

Post by M Fowler »

Mojotone Studio One preamp into a JCM800 50w type power section.

Started with blank chassis, mojotone faceplates, Heyboer Plexi transformers, and Hammond plexi choke 3h.

Got the OT and choke mounted as well just no photo.

Looks great Mark. Can't wait for a report on how it sounds.

Thanks Joe I can't wait either. :D

But I ran out of 10uf/160v bias caps been using a lot of those lately.

I had just bought a stash of 2 . 2 uf/35v ecaps and found those on my night stand after an hour of searching my work bench.
Open packages put into pocket thinking I will run those downstairs to my work bench before the day is out and they end up on my night stand go figure. :?

LOL, that sounds EXACTLY like something I would do. :-)

I was always thinking about mating a low wattage Marshall preamp ( one watt) to a high powered power section.
Excited to hear your doing this Fowler!

I am currently working on building a lithium electric bike battery but would like to start up on a similar build when done.
Is their a schematic floating around somewhere for the Studio One preamp?

Cheers

Could you specify why you can't? What is the error message?

The reason for not posting the schematic and layout is forum rules regarding not posting schematic/layouts for current production amps.

Studio One is a current production amp and I know Mojotone reads these posts because they are one of my vendors and they have given me a new
board once when I posted how poor quality the board looked on one of my project Marshall JTM45 builds. :D

Not to derail, but are TAG forum rules posted somewhere?

Thank you for the follow up Mark. I completely understand and I should have known better!
I may do an AFD or another Dumble amp. I pulled out a Dumble clone last night that I had not played in a while and forgot how nice they sound .

Cheers

I don't know where that rule is located but FAQ has a lot of info: http://ampgarage.com/forum/app.php/help/faq

The AFD kicks butt and one of my favorites.

The JM Signature Reverb is my favorite Dumble style circuit only because I haven't been able to play a ODS reverb or build one yet.

Fired up the 50w Studio One today and working on the relay issues as always, I hate relays.

But will be away from bench for awhile.
