RI 1959 SL100 'handwired repro' - odd socket pin numbering

Post by tubeswell »

So I've just had one in for a tube change and tune up for the 1st time. And I did a bit of a double take when I saw the octal socket pin numbers LoL (although the sockets are in fact wired correctly).

If that was a machine built tube socket on circuit board amp the final test out crew would have had a smoke show taking place!

Whoever made the molding die should have idiot proofed it. I wonder if Marshall got a good deal on a load of reject sockets? Nice amp, though!

Never seen that before. Very nice amp nonetheless.
There used to be a long waiting list when Marshall started offering "hand wired in the U.K." amps again.
Go figure...

Marshall had thousands of these and sometimes if you order direct they can still be supply bases like this, I keep a draw with Marshall original bases as some customers prefer replacements to be from Marshall, all of which are like this

I did ask the question at the time, these where made by Cliff who some how made the wrong, the parts lady said at the time if you know Marshall valve amps you don't need the pin numbers :D
