Why isn't this selling?

This amp baffles me. There's something about it that just seems a bit off. Probably why it hasn't sold yet.

What do you guys think?

Well, the market is wrecked.. £1300 is sort of more than all the money for that year model here, historically. You would see it listed for $3000 and similar amps in similar condition listed for $2200 or even $1800 and when that sort of thing happens people buy none of the above.

It's crazy when copies retail for more than the original things, huh?

I think you're right. There are a lot of 100W amps out there. I was after a 50W amp but these seem to go for more than the 100Ws at the moment and seem to be quite rare in comparison! Shame as I can't really use a 100W amp.

Yeah, people always want 50s. 71 and 72 50s are hard to find because they scream bloody murder. That's my favorite amps.

Same here. Maybe we should start writing about how awful they are and people will want to get rid of them. The market will get flooded, prices will go down and we'll be laughing!

Hi Ryan: good to hear from you.

I also wanted the sound of a super lead 100, but there is no way that would work in my house, or anyone else's for that matter.

So I built a super lead 100watt - minus about 75 watts.....lol
I copied this....
https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... er#p363325

these 6aq5/el90 tubes are awesome..
I haven't posted my build because I hacked up my Liverpool (way to loud) and used the chassis and Iron from it for this new build (sacrilege)
I think this 4 6aq5 amp is about 25 -30 watts.... love this amp!

Thanks :D. Sorry for absence, life has been hectic for the past year!!

How do those valves compare to, say, EL34s? Did you have to modify the amp much to get it sounding right?

You hacked up a Liverpool?! Outrageous!

These 6aq5 are supposed to be 7pin equivalents to 6v6 tubes... there is a schematic on that link
With randall’s Schematic the only thing I needed to tweak was the bright cap to suit my ears.
Its a great little bugger

I never knew they were equivalents to 6v6s! Do you still get similar headroom with them than you would EL34s?

It is a bidding auction.. no one bids early hoping to score a deal

No, they break up pretty easy.... if I dime the master and have the bright and normal off, then dial them up I can get them to about 4 then they break up. But it’s pretty loud at that point.
Randall has mentioned he ran the plates At 325 for a year without fail, even though the tubes are rated for 280.
I find that they have similar characteristics like el84’s.
I hope this helps a bit

Sorry didn’t mean to hijack this thread

I love 6aq5's, especially the JAN 6005's, 6v6 DNA with small bottle chime.
