Yeah Phil, I could consider that.

When I heard about GZ34's bring a "soft start" to an amp I came to see them as a healthy thing for a tube amp. But I'm probably just being silly, once again.

A GZ34 puts a little under 420VDC on the plates of 6V6. (PT is 330-0-330) I think an SS rectifier would put around 455 or so on the plates of a 6V6. i wondered it the 455 might be pushing it on the 6V6 but, perhaps not. I'll definately think about that.

Thank Phil

I'm not 100% sure but I think most modern 6V6's can take like 500V max on the anode. I'd check the datasheet on the ones you're planning to use. JJ's say 500.

Sluckey would know more than I for sure and I doubt he'd recommend something harmful to the tubes :)

Sluckeys 6V6 plexi who's circuit I am going by does include a GZ34 rectifier but then again, that was just his personal preference to creating the voltage he wanted on the 6V6's.

If so, sure the 6V6's, or many of them would take the 450 or so +volts.

Thanks,
