Box of Rocks happiness

Post by angelodp »

Ok, the young man dropped by to get his amp. I had it set for a nice brit crunch and it sounded great. He asked
"mind if I try something".... By all it means it's your amp. He un-jumpered the amp, reached back and set the PPIMV to 2 or so maybe 3, dimmed the rest on the bright channel. He then proceeded to do his Van Halen chops... not bad for a kid. The amp sounded amazing, I was quite surprised as I had not taken it to the full dime. The look on his face was priceless and it took me back to the first amp I tried. All in all a great moment and a worthwhile project. He is at home with it playing and playing.

Thanks All.

Presence .1uf as in the layout. The NFB is 47k 4ohm. Is that that what you are asking?

Yes. I was wondering if you kept the original value for the FB resistor or if you decided to reduce it for more FB due to the PPIMV. Looks like it turned out great.

You did not try it dimed? How else would you know if the amp is stable and free from oscillation? Also, how else would you play Crazy Train?!?

True true, but all is well that ends well. Young rockers will rule.
