In fact it was the voltage selector.
Marshall used those funky selectors on the 2150 (maybe other models?), the impedance selector had already gone bad on this amp, I should have known but I'm kind of slow sometimes…
Anyway all is well, the PT is totally fine, I hardwired the 120v tap as I hardwired the 8 ohm tap.
