Nice! Is the new circuit a 2204 ish sorta thing?

I'm guessing the extra 12ax7 is for either an effects loop or more gain stages?

Yes, it's kinda like a stripped-down Friedman Smallbox with a tube-buffered loop and foot-switchable solo boost.

v30 except that is worst speaker on the planet is destroying human hearing.. my friend owning that has a hole in ear spectrum where this speaker has a peak......

Must be some reason they are still so popular after the almost 40 years since they were introduced ;^) If you are into classic rock tone, they've got it, but can do other things as well.
